I'm looking for information on Process Migration as a feature of operating systems. Process migration, for those of you who may be unfamiliar with the term, is the moving of a process from one machine to another (typically in a distributed system). I'm particularly interested in info on systems that have actually tried to provide this facility and exercise it, particularly with respect to recovering from failures. I'm reasonably familiar with DEMOS/AP and Accent, so don't bother to reply about those; I am interested in hearing about actual use experience with those systems, if process migration is involved. Please mail your replies to: {seismo|allegra}!umcp-cs!mangoe or mangoe@mimsy.umd.edu or mangoe@maryland.ARPA (if you can still handle that) or 9107 Autoville Dr. College Park, MD 20740 USA (if only the post-awful will do) If enough MAILED requests for posting are received, the responses may be posted. More likely, they will be mailed to the curious. Charley Wingate
