New Air Lift in Dallas We here in the Dallas area have a nice change of pace concerning available jump aircraft. We normally are bound to 182's, 206's, and a Beaver at the 4 nearby DZ's. But, this winter (till March or so) Roger Neilson of Sandwich, Ill. has loaned out their Islander aircraft to one of the drop zones here (Seagoville). It is a beauty -- twin engine, very quiet, hauls 10 eager jumpers, climbs OK (but not a barn burner), slow exit speeds so good for students, huge door and step with rails to dangle from (can have 6 outside!), carpeted floor (although it gets wet due to a leak if it rains the previous day), and it can operate out of short grass strips similar to the larger otters. Another nice feature is that it has a sliding plexiglass door that is very convienient and keeps her warm inside if the mercury is on the low side. Since it burns regular avgas, it is perfect for small airports. I really enjoyed it the other weekend -- made three nice skydives from her. The last of which was at dusk (I guess it was really getting toward night) and we built an eight way silhouetted against a full moon. Was glad someone was blinking their car lights at the DZ -- would have been tough to locate without them. Blue Skies Dane Meyer D-8076 CCR-735

This sounds like its worth driving to from the land of eternal
182's,(not that there that bad of a plane), hows about some phone
numbers of the DZ's you mention. If it ever warms up I'll bring
some other jumpers down from Oklahoma.
