Here's some more on the subject of belly-bands from Dane Meyer. (He's the one who got his plug pulled, so I'm posting this on the net for him.) Ken Scofield ************************************************************************ To: rice!hp-pcd!hpcvlo!kas Subject: Re: Belly-band Throw-outs Status: RO Hi Ken, Again, thanks for forwarding the skydiving text. I was just going to pass along my idea on that subject -- I have a belly band throw out system on my wonder hog which I really like. I have tried a leg mounted throw out system and did not like it as well because the pull motion was awkward (at least different). I found that on the leg system, I had to pull the pilot chute UP out of the pouch and then OUT into the slip stream. On the belly mount, it seems to be a simpler straight OUT into the slip stream. For me, the belly mount is easier and faster to find -- but I suppose that is just what I am used to. To prevent the twisted belly band problem which too many people have had (sometimes fatal) problems with, I have tacked my belly band directly to the leg strap making a semi rigid structure that is VERY difficult to twist -- you would have to make a concious effort to twist it -- no accidental twists possible (likely). I recommend this to everyone who has a belly band throw out. Do it yourself on pay a rigger $5 to do the easy tack. I'm eagerly awaiting your report on your no lift dives as well as your floating problems. Certainly, you went diving over Easter! ============================================================================== Dane Meyer D-8076, CCR-735 ARPA: ==> Meyer%waltz%TI-CSL@CSNET-Relay CSNET: ==> Meyer@TI-CSL
