I sent a message directly to Gene to request that this group not be terminated, and he sent back the following reply: ************************************************************************ To: hpcvlo!kas Subject: Re: Great Net Cleanup Status: RO Thank you for your mail. Forgive me for answering with a form letter, but I have been receiving over 50 letters a day on the general topic of removing newsgroups, and I do not have time to answer each letter individually. I am keeping track of people's comments and concerns as expressed in these letters. In a few days I will summarize the comments into one article and post it to "net.news.group" for everyone to see. Of the 14 groups I listed as candidates for removal, it appears that 4 or 5 still have a netwide audience, although those audiences are not very active posters. Rest assured that I will not be deleting any of those groups -- I simply wanted to see if anyone cared about them. The ones that people have not commented on, however, appear to be likely candidates for removal. Thanks again for taking the time to express your concern, Gene Spafford The Clouds Project, School of ICS, Georgia Tech, Atlanta GA 30332 CSNet: Spaf @ GATech ARPA: Spaf%GATech.CSNet @ CSNet-Relay.ARPA uucp: ...!{akgua,allegra,hplabs,ihnp4,linus,seismo,ulysses}!gatech!spaf **************************************************************************** Ken Scofield C-9355 Hewlett-Packard PCD Corvallis, OR {ucbvax!hplabs, harpo, ogcvax}!hp-pcd!kas
