[net.rec.skydive] SKYDIVE PERRIS....AGAIN!

************************* BLUE SKY *********************************************

As you have read earlier on the net, Perris Valley Paracenter " WENT-IN ".
The Perris DZ has reopened under a new name and has been made a club. Since
this is my "home DZ" I'm glad to say the least ( Cal City is about 50 miles
further drive).

Several changes have taken place at the drop zone ( now The Perris Valley
Skydiving Society, Inc.). The release form protecting the Society has every
immaginable clause to protect the interest of the Society and releasing them
from all responsibility of injury and/or resultant death. I realize this is
necessary and I did sign all the apropriate paperwork.

The first week-end I got to jump at the newly opened jump zone they had a
Helicopter there. WOW, That's a BLAST!!!! Very little forward speed, so you
don't have much prop blast to work with ( or any relative wind really ). At
first, I was expecting to go slightly unstable on exit ( since no prop blast),
but I did'nt! My first dive out I had slot 8 in a 9-way and had no problem.
I earned my SCS on that dive ( two cases of beer, first SCS & first heli jump).
Then came my second jump, we tried to take a 4-way out the door...........
WHAT A MESS !!!!!!!!! Needless to say, it funneled ! Oh well, it was fun
anyway.

On a more sober note, a follow skydiver went in on the same day. This was
the first such accident I've seen ( and hopefully the last ). The accident
was a result of a bag-lock (which was properly cut away), then a malfunction
on the reserve. The reserve partially deployed, not enough to slow down his
decent significantly. Several different stories have been told concerning
the accident, from all of them all I could get was that he was jumping
borrowed gear.

  PLEASE, REMEMBER PIN CHECKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                         Blue skies,
                                      Robert Cisneros
