It is with extreme sadness that I report that "Cowboys" Cessna 208
Caravan crashed on take off in Jenkinsburg Ga. killing all 17 people aboard.
Preliminary reports indicate that the cause of the crash was an engine
failure on take off resulting in a stall.
"Cowboy" Williams owner of the aircraft and Doug Holms an employee of
Glide Path International are two of the skydivers reported killed in the
accident. The others were reported to be local jumpers.
If you suspect any close friends to have been victims, call USPA, they
have the manifest list and can probably confirm or deny the presence of any one
you may be worried about.

Last night's (2 Oct 85) TV newscast had a report that the fuel in the
crashed plane was contaminated with sugar. This was a preliminary or
unofficial report, though. Anyone with details, especially with a
pipeline to the continuing investigation, please post any details or
further news as you learn of it.

An unnamed FBI agent was quoted in the Knoxville, Tennessee New-Sentinel
as saying that the FBI believes the plane was sabotaged by Colombian
gangsters seeking revenge for a bungled cocaine smuggling run. Officially,
the FBI has no comment on their investigation. I personally don't consider
this report to be much better than a rumor. Has anyone heard more?
