I, like Rich Drake, also have a 1980 rabbit diesel with 35000 miles. I have had NO problems with cold weather starting, and have not found it necessary to even add kerosene. If having a high threshold for pain means enjoying driving a car that gets consistently 48 mpg, I'll take all the pain I can get. Actually, I've done away with some of the "pain at the pump" pain I used to experience with my 18 mpg gas gusler. Though I don't need another car, I too would without hesitation would buy another rabbit diesel if I did. Bill Gieske
