[net.games.frp] Report from GenCon

bstempleton@watmath.UUCP (Brad Templeton) (08/25/83)

Well, I got back from GenCon recently, which ran from Thursday to
Sunday of last week. Didn't win the AD&D open, but what can you say.

This convention was the worst organized gathering of its size that
I have seen. People started lining up at 3 am for the ticket booths
that opened at 8 am, only to find the booths sold out at 20 past 8
with only a small percentage of the line getting event tickets.

This has to be changed. Most people just participated in the
widespread open gaming. On top of this, rooms were mismanaged for events
and this caused problems in other tournaments.

The gaming was fun though, and you could get into just about any kind of
game you liked. The popular ones (all D&D variants, FOOquest, Champions,
Car Wars, Board Games, you name it) were there in force. Some of the
largest small scale wars I have ever seen went on, and impressed the media.
How many netters were there?
(by mail, of course)
