Excellent suggestion (not allowing GM to play a major character). A good compromise is to allow the GM to play a chaotic wizard, a sort of mentor. In the game I am currently in he is usually there to help us out of tight spots, but we need to keep a close eye on him because he feels we are a bit below him on the evolutionary scale and will try to show us up every chance he gets: levitating up a precipice instead of climbing the rope and similar feats of superiority. Even if it puts us in a bit of danger....I imagine the GM enjoys playing such a character (I enjoy playing chaotic characters myself; I don't know what that says about ME!) Unfortunately, that doesn't help the player who already has to contend with an overbearing, GM-borne character. My suggestion would be to simply ask the GM nicely to either allow someone else to be leader or please teleport out of there. The description of the GM does not lead me to believe this will be very successful either, tho... Rick Lindsley richl@tektronix ..!tektronix!richl
