=============================================================================== I'm afraid I am in favor of letting players have as wide a choice of classes/races as possible, no matter what the authors of NPC classes say in those articles. Some NPC classes do not lend themselves well as character classes, the Death Master class described a couple of months ago in the Dragon is one I would not allow a character to be. I believe its up to the DM to decide what would be fun for his/her group and if the DM wants to have a couple of duelists in a group then that's the way it should be. People always bring the up the issue of balance and that NPC classes are more powerful in general than PC classes. Balance isn't nearly so important as having fun, and if everyone has fun, what does it matter if the gnome fighter is weaker than the acrobat-thief. I change the rules and specs of AD&D whenever I think we will have more fun doing something differently and while that approach isn't for everybody, I have had years of sucessful play doing just that. b2 ...ucbvax!lbl-csam!lanl-a!bb Bryan Bingham
