[net.games.frp] Starting Star Fleet Battles

jeff1@garfield.UUCP (Jeff Sparkes) (01/20/84)

I've just started to play SFB ( two games so far ) and have been
wondering about a few things.
First of all, how long does a usual move take? With our group, it
takes about 20 minutes. Is this reasonable?
By reading the introduction, it appears that you must plot your moves
in advance. There is also room on the energy sheet for it. Yet, in the rules,
there is no mention of this, although in the advanced section it says that
this is optional. Which is the best way to do movement, plotting in advance,
or as you go along?
Is there a rating for the strength of the ships to make matching them
up easier?
Do the more advanced rules like drones, shuttles, mines, transporters,
boarding parties and tractor beams improve the game?
Do larger groups make for better games?
How about some advice on strategy for beginners?

P.s. Can someone tell me how to get past the lava in Scott Adams'
	Adventureland?
