An interesting item that I once had was the "Ring of Doughnuts". This was a magical ring that had the magic power of creating a virtual stream of doughnuts in the direction the finger wearing the ring was pointing, and of course upon the wanting of the ring to operate. The amount of doughnuts could not be moderated, but came out at a relatively high velocity, enough to fill a five foot on a side cube in a round. This led to some interesting uses, such as stopping up corridors, filling chasms so they could be crossed in safety, and as a create food for ourselves, and also as a way to put hungry monsters into good moods. An interesting item that has those once in a while funny uses that adds a lot of spice to the game. Walt Pesch AT&T Western Electric AT&T Technologies ihnp4!ihuxp!wbpesch

The HALBERD OF INVISIBILITY AND CLUCKING: The wielder was invisible, but compelled to cluck like a chicken. Silence spells became popular. The BADGE OF ORC IMPRESSING: Wear the badge. Meet some orcs. They stop, and say to each other, "Who's he? I don't know, but he's got a badge. Must be important!" and do what you want. It would only work on a few orcs, though, because if you tried it on too many, one would always yell, "Hey! We don't need no stinking badges!!" and then they would jump on you. Causes all rings on the victims fingers to rotate rapidly (and painfully), forcing him to spend a round taking them off, if he didn't have the appropriate protection. Note that the wrong kind of protection could lead to loss of fingers. If anybody ever starts on weird monsters, I'll tell you about the Herbal. <mike

My party disposed of a monster in a very interesting way a couple of years ago. Quite some time before the encounter in question, they had found a "fallout shelter of a wizard. He had created and stocked a secret complex of about five rooms so that he could have a place to lay low for a while if his plans were thwarted. In the complex he had several barrels of dehydrated food. They consisted powders that would turn into various kinds of food when water was added. About three months later (real time) they encounted a water weird. The encounter went something like this: One of them said "Hey Mike, remember that pouch of dehydrated steak I have been carrying around all this time?" "Yes." I confusedly responded. "I throw a bunch of it on the water weird." he said. The end result of all this is that if you ask my party how they dealt with the last water weird they met, they gleefully respond "We ate it!" #R:ihuxp:-59600:uiucdcs:9300019:000:958 uiucdcs!kaufman Jan 30 13:30:00 1984 Let's start with a silly magic item: BOOTS OF ELEPHANTKIND - very useful for stamping out flaming ducks. I've also created some interesting new lycanthropes. One of these is the werejackalwere which is a person who during a full moon or times of stress may turn into a jackal who can turn into a person or something like that. Then there is the most fearsome of all lycanthropes - the werehouse. Besides having all the characteristics of other lycanthropes, it is BIG and STRONG (25 HD, does 15-34 damage). Due to its nature, it is suggested that the werehouse have a worthy treasure in its "foyer", perhaps a +4 Dart Defender of Dancing and Sharpness. Next time, perhaps I will discuss the Robe of Useless Items or the 5th level spell: Wall of Lice. - Ken (uiucdcs!kaufman) Kaufman (Neutral Good Jester-Paladin) PS: Does Demagorgon read the net or can I freely use his name?
