Re: Getting the Platinum Bar in ZORK I. First of all, unless you have a bad disk, the problem you described is just that; a problem. The Loud Room (where the platinum bar resides) is a puzzle to solve, with the bar being the reward for solving it. You said that the machine ignores your commands, or just echoes them, but have you tried leaving the room? Commands such as EAST and WEST should work normally. Depending on which version of ZORK you have, there are one or two ways of solving the problem of the Loud Room and getting the Platinum Bar. One requires solving another puzzle elsewhere in the dungeon, and the other requires nothing and can be executed in one turn. If you would like any further hints, post something on the net.
