[net.games.frp] # attacks per round

I hope I don't get some people upset by this, but--

>       1 SEGMENT  ==  6 seconds
>       1 ROUND    ==  10 SEGMENTS  ==  60 seconds  ==  1 minute
>       1 TURN     ==  10 ROUNDS    ==  10 minutes

Steve, Russell Shilling is 100% correct. I'm on the fencing team
at my school- do you know how long an entire match takes- at the
most??? 5 big whopping minutes, period. The match is over after
one person recieves 5 touches- on the average, a skilled match
takes no longer than 2-3 minutes. Within that time range one can
make an attack (lunge, parry, repost) every *SEGMENT* !!

On the other hand, in fencing we are talking about protected tips
of swords and light nylon suits- so yes, you are not totally incorrect.

I'd like to suggest the following compromise so that this really
neat flaming will be put out:

A supplement put out by The Compleat Strategist discusses the entire
range of fighters: a swashbuckler is most like a fencer- light armor
plus(es) on dex. etc. on the other hand, you could have a knight with
dragon plate and a +2 2handed-sword.  This guy would have a minus(es)
on his dex. but look at all the advantage on protection and damage.

and now, some words with Marion:

by following the exact rules you are destroying the chances of anyone
calling a druid- it is in cases such as these that the DMG's Afterword,
(P.230), was written. A Druid does NOT have to wait 10 rounds to let
it go- he can do so after one round- THEN it is treated as a MU spell:
lightning bolt (except that it would be d8 not d6 due to the fact that
the power is coming from a storm). There must however be a storm for
the Druid to call this "spell". My proof of this comes simply from
the differences between Summon Insects + Insects Plague. If you look
these two up you'll see that the Plague is made up of alot of, or rather
super (10 rounds worth to be exact) summoning.

all discussion welcomed.
