This is an article concerning the net election in my Champions campaign. To vote merely mail me your vote for Day, Stone, or Edwards. The biggest issue affecting the campaign is that of Registration. Some people want to require all superpowered beings to register with a central authority, primarily so that heroes can be contacted when needed instead of popping up on a hit or miss basis. Others oppose registration as an invasion of privacy, a violation of civil rights, or as the first step towards a government monopoly of controlling superpowered beings. Democrat Linda Day opposes Registration, and is very pro-civil rights. She points out that there is nothing preventing any heroes that want to be helpful from contacting the police and leaving their phone number. Republican Robert "Bobby" Stone is very strongly in favor of Registration, and is running on a law-and-order ticket. He feels something must be done about the crime rate in New York City, especially the supervillians that are running amok. Independent Adam Edwards is in favor of Registration on a purely voluntary basis. Superheroes themselves have come out both for and against Registration. Most Supervillians are understandably against it, and a few have threatened dire consequences However, not all superheroes are for registration, and not all supervillians are against it. Shadowcat, a member of the world famous supervillian group Quadros, was interviewed by NBC news, and stated that registration made no difference to her. "If there is no registration, then heroes will continue appearing on a hit or miss basis, which is fine. If there is, then that'll make it that much easier to find out who the heroes are and mess them up. Either way, Quadros comes out ahead, just like we always do." Shadowcat refused to say who she supported in the election, except to say that "if Quadros really cared who won, the other candidates wouldn't have a chance." She declined to give details. On the hero side, Hunter (a widely respected NYC hero) opposes Registration, pointing out the security problems, and asking "what use is it being a vigilante if you have to suffer all that red tape? You might as well join the police force!" The Crusaders, a NYC based supergroup led by General Amnesty, are greatly in favor of registration, or anything else that will get tough on supercriminals. ----------- So remember, if you want to put felines (err, felons) like Shadowcat behind bars, vote for Robert "Bobby" Stone! ----------- paid for by the Stone for Governor Committee ----------- Who says you can't get blood from a stone? ----------- Shadowcat, quoted in New Yorker magazine Mail your votes to: ctvax!uokvax!lmaher
