<> Okay, here's a dilemma for all you Paladins and other LG types out there. In the campaign I am in currently, our LG to NG party has encountered a new race. They are basically Canoid in appearance, are vegetarians, are incredibly productive, are *completely* pacifistic (They will not protect themselves in any way.) and have a birth rate that doubles their population every two years. The DM has ruled them LG. They are new to the planet, and have only recently become generally noticed. Now comes the big question, what do we do with them? There numbers will continue to grow until they crowd out everybody on the planet (They have no effective means of Birth Control), and yet they are peaceful, hard-working and completely beneficient. The three options have been (1) Exterminate them. Simple. Direct. Saves the world, and yet is not what I'd call LG or NG. (2) Exile them. Send them where they can be contained until a Birth Control spell can be developed. (IF a spell can be developed). This results in the death of a lot of Canoids (exile far away is pretty rough.) and doesn't guarantee protection for the rest of the planet for all time. This isn't terribly LG as well. (3) Aid them. (Lots of people are trying to do them in, {suprise, suprise}, and we can stop them.) This could be literally dooming the entire world, if a spell can't be developed eventually, not what I call very LG at all. (Especially since Elves who need lots of forest get nailed when the Canoids cut it down and farm it as their numbers climb. I play an elf.) Any suggestions as to how the Paladin can keep his P-hood? What would your party do in similar circumstances? (Valid only for G parties as it's obvious for the rest.) (Maybe). Mail or post replies as you see fit.
