Fudging of dice rolls by the DM should not be surprising to anyone. After all, the gods may show or withhold favor at their whim. No one in this discussion has brought up fudging of dice rolls by players though! In Gary Alan Fine's book "Shared Fantasy", which attempts to describe and explain FRP from a sociological point of view, he mentions that he often observed players cheating on their dice rolls. He implies that this behaviour is also tolerated/ignored by DM's and other players. Is anyone willing to defend or explain this practice? Is there anybody who can honestly say they never lied about a saving throw--or said that the first one didn't count? How many of us have changed a six to a sixteen? Have any DM's observed this happening? What did you do or say to the players? Phil Polli {ihnp4!}ihuxl!pvp
