As an intuitive example of why you should switch, think of 100 doors.
After you have made your original choice, your door has a 1/100 chance
of being a winner.  After Monty has whittled away 98 of the other doors
you know that either you picked a winner originally (1/100 chance) or
the other door is a winner.  The odds are obviously in the other door's
favor.
