[net.games.frp] monks.

With respect to monks fighting ability, if you would notice,
the clerics fighting table and the thieves fighting table are, basically,
the same. The only difference is that the clerics fighting table advances
every 2 levels and the thieves advance every four. So, at, lets say, the 8th
level of experience, the thief and the monk(cleric/druid) are fighting equal.
At any given level, the monk(et.al) may be fighting at 5% better (+1 on the
'to hit' rolls) than the thief, or they may be fighting equal. So it really
doesn't matter a whole hoot of a lot what table they fight on, it all comes out
about the same anyways.

	Now, I have a 9th level monk (lawful-neutral with abut 54 h.p.). Now,
he has better saving throws than my 8/11 fighter/illusionist. Yes, he does have
a poor (for that level) armor class (for 9th level monks, it is 3), but, if the
need arises (like he running out of hit points), he can run like hell (move
rate of 23"), jump down a hole (fall 30', no damage) or use self-induced
catelapsy (fools dumb monsters and smart ones too.). Now, to get a monk up to
a decent level, one must be very cautious. I have found that at lower levels,
I am about as powerful as a cleric. I didn't attack with my hands, it just
wasn't worth it. Use the weapon damage bonus you get as a monk to your best ad-
vantage.

Here is a question about the higher levels. Is it that there is only
one of each of the higher levels (9+) in the multi-verse you are in or is it
that there is only one of each in each 'temple'. I have always thought that it
was the latter, myself. You are allowed only one 9+ level monk in a certian
area (in the area of his/her home base). Which is right? Or is it up to whom-
ever is running the game.
