I have recently started DMing, and set my campaign on a world
that, in the starting area at least, is of Indian mythos. I found the
pantheon in the Deities and Demigods book to be somewhat limited,
and so added the following gods and goddesses.
Thought this was the sort of thing that someone else might
enjoy using, so I'll post it. Sorry for the length. It is
formatted for MM.

Brahma appears as a very tall man with red skin and white
robes. He has 4 arms and 4 heads. (He had 5 heads, until Shiva
struck one off.) He rides a white goose. In his arms he carries
a sceptre, prayer beads, a bow, and a jug.

Brahma strikes for 2-20 with his sceptre, and with arrows from his
bow.

As Lord of Creation, Brahma creates the world (under direction from
Indra). He is therefore concerned with the natural world and is
sacred to druids and rangers. His jug contains water, and when he
pours out the water it becomes living beings of any kind he desires,
which will do whatever he commands.

His color is white. Sacrifices are oil and wooden prayer beads, which
are burned in sacred groves at dawn.

Shiva appears as a fair-skinned but dirty man with a blue
throat and matted hair, wearing a loincloth of skins. He has
5 faces, 4 arms, and 3 eyes on the central face. Serpents
coil about his neck, in his hair, and around his waist. He wears
a necklace of skulls.

Shiva is known as 'the destroyer.' He is therefore the natural
enemy of Vishnu ('the preserver'). With Brahma the creator, they
form a level below Indra in the pantheon.

Shiva is also known as the 'lord of ghosts and ghouls'. He has
the power of control over all undead, and the ability to raise undead
to serve him in any numbers and at any time.

Shiva fights with a club with a skull on the end called Khatwanga
(4-24), a bow called Ajagava (1-10), and a +4 sword (1-10).
He can also throw a beam of fire from his third eye once per round
(3-30 damage, range 200 yards).

Shiva has gained his powers through spiritual disiplines, thus his
sponsorship of monks--even good-aligned ones. He is highly likely
(3% per monk, 2% per other follower, up to 16% total) to aid those who
call on him.

Shiva's color is blue. Sacrifices are animals (occasionally humans)
and are made on the first of the month.

Shakti appears as a beautiful, yellow-skinned woman with 10 arms.
She ride on a huge (20' long) tiger which is very fast (35") and
attacks for 2-12/2-12/2-40.

As the goddess of magical energy, Shakti has the ability to turn
all magic used against her or her followers back against the caster
(no saving throw). She holds +4 swords in 8 of her hands.

As the goddess of sexual energy, Shakti has the power to arouse passion
in any creature viewing her (saving throw -7 vs. spells). The
creature will forget about all else, including attacking the goddess.

Her clerics are always found in male/female pairs, as her rituals
are highly sexual in nature. Her color is yellow. Sacrifices to
her include blood from the worshipper and are offered at midnight.

Ganesha is a popular god, and often an object of fun. He appears
as a red, short, potbellied man with 4 arms and an elephant's head
with 1 tusk. (He made the mistake of coming between Vishnu and
Shiva once, and Shiva shot the other tusk off.) He rides a rat,
and holds a club, a discus, a jar of candy, and a shell in his
hands.

Ganesha does 1-10 damage with his club. The discus is a magic object
which he throws and which always hits. It does 3-30 damage and
returns to his hand for the next round. His shell has the ability
to perform one humorous action per melee round (cutting an opponent's
belt so that his/her pants fall down is a favorite.) The candy is
just very good candy.

Ganesha's clerics always charge for their spells, even for fellow
party members. They will keep a strict accounting of such money which
is taken in addition to their share of treasure. They are
unlikely to become rich, however, as 50% of all their money
is given to the temples of the god. Ganesha delights in money,
and looks after merchants and small buisnessmen.

Ganesha's great festival is mid-fall day--which is celebrated
by worshippers throwing sacks of water containing red dye on
everyone they see. This usually is a free-for-all with anyone
in town joining in. Ganesha's color is red, and sacrifices are
money given to the temple--which may be made anytime.

Maya appears as anything at all. Her original form is that of a
young, beautiful woman, wearing a rainbow as a robe. She has 6 arms
and 2 heads, one blond-haired, one dark. However, she seldom
appears in this form, or in any form twice.

Maya fights with a sword (2-12) in each of 4 hands. Her major
power is the ability to make illusions into reality. In particular,
she can transport enemies to an alternate universe of her choosing
for as long as she desires. None of her illusions (including the
transportation one) can be disbelieved successfully by anyone
but a good cleric of at least 15th level on a roll of 20.

Maya's colors are all--in rainbow. Her clerics are usually drunk,
or under the influence of various drugs, and so sacrifice whatever,
whereever, and whenever it occurs to them.
