Roleplaying came to Sweden in 1975 in the form of the first edition of D&D. Since then there has been a constant growth in the number of players, propably there are more than 10 000 today (pessimistic figure). Most popular games are AD&D, Runequest, Traveller, Call of Chtulhu and Basic D&D. There are two miserable products in Swedish - Drakar&Demoner and Mutant. The first one is Spellmaster modified (fouled up), the second one is a total ripoff on Gamma World. A translation of Basic D&D will be published in August. It will hopefully mean a breakthrough when it comes to spreading roleplaying. We have three annual conventions: Gothcon - at Easter in Gothenburg, 9th year, attendance 500, tournaments in AD&D (2), Traveller, Runequest, Diplomacy, Squad-Leader. Also wargames, table-top and boardgames. Very good scenarios but very chaotic organisation. Borcon - in October in Boras, 2nd year, attendance 200, 3-4 tornaments, only munchkins. Lincon - in May in Linkoping, 3rd year, attendance 150, a two-day long AD&D tournament and a few other activities. Very good scenarios and very good orgnisation. (I just got home from there.) No munchkins! I have access to the scenarios from Gothcon and Lincon. If there is enough interest, I might consider translating one or two into English. Unfortunately a scenario consists of quite a large volume of text and usually a lot of illustrations. I would like to hear views on whether it is a good idea to send scenarios on the net at all and if you think it is, what format for the graphics that ought to be used. Jacob If you can find any opinions or facts in the text, please feel free to use them as your own.
