For those of you in the area, a reminder... Origins '85 National Wargaming Convention is being held at Towson University, Towson, Maryland (on the Baltimore Beltway), June 27, 28, 29, 30. At-the- door registration will be $18 for the weekend (I forget how much per day). Origins usually draws the largest crowds of all types of gamers from across the nation. Origins is a healthy blend of FRPing, board wargaming, miniatures... just about everything imaginable. Tournaments, seminars, and (best of all!) the Dealer's Area, plus films and speakers will be offered. And, of course, the 24-hour gaming area, for those who can't get enough gaming... So much for the official stuff. I was at Towson for Atlanticon last year. If you don't have the bucks to get a room, don't worry -- sack space is available to those who are willing to sleep on a classroom floor (discreteness is advisable, though -- don't bring an entire horde down expecting quality floor space, the Powers That Be will only put up with so much). For those who can't deal without a shower for 24 hours (not many, I suppose), locker rooms are plentiful, once again with discreteness mode activated. If you look enough, there is always a way to get around high-cost conventions as long as you respect certain rules of behavior (that's half the fun, anyways). So, if you can attend... visit your local gaming store, or pick up a recent copy of Avalon Hill's General to get Convention Information (pre-registration is long over, but if you arrive early enough, you can still get some tournament spots and into most of the seminars without a lot of waiting).
