[net.games.frp] 20s Role-Playing

Now that the subject has come up,I'd like to strongly endorse the entire
genre. The two games I've played have been tremendous fun.

Gangbusters) Unlike the rest of TSR's homicidal line, this one actually
requires a great deal of thought. Most of the modules are murder myst-
eries, and to illustate, in the module we just completed, I played a
private eye,who stayed pretty much in the background. My two co-players
(whom I have yet to meet!) played cops who fought a string of gun fights
until they were finally hospitalized, leaving me to solve the crime. To
top it off,I went through the module without firing a shot or throwing
a punch.(You get experience for the ends rather than the means).Although
its murder-mystery concept requires a good GM and better players, its
ideal for those more interested in Hercule Poirot than Frodo Baggins.

Call of the Ctuluhu) As per above, except that it has a more realistic feel
than GB. The game includes various time lines, including one based on
actual alleged super-natural occurances. The most interesting assumtion
is that if Joe Adventured sees a monster in his ordinary,well-defined
world, his first reaction won't be to beat it silly, but to run for dear
life. Also interesting is the idea that the more you know about meta-physics,
the harder it will be for your little mind to stay together. Similar to
GB,except that its mysteries are super-natural,rather than criminal.

Rebuttals?Disputes?Flames?Conversation about something other than swords and
sorcery?
