As a fearless leader of a crew of 8 who won the Orccon'86 3-D AD&D ENCOUNTER competition, I will accept the congratulations and monetary donations at the above address... Seriously, tho'... Folks, I ***HATE*** D&D and AD&D. But, as always in any gaming system, a group of good players and a good DM make even the worst system playable. Even D&D. The 3-D D&D is not a new idea. 3-D Castle has been a regular installment in Southern California gaming Conventions for over 3 years. This year there were 3-D Castle ( a 6-7 level castle with a 2 level dungeon ), 2 3-D Encounter boards ( surface and 1 underground level), and the dreaded 3-D MONSTER MASH - a 12 hour marathon( a VERY long bridge to a heavily defended castle, over 50 players, 1,000,000 exp. or gp. equipped characters, anything goes!) in wich only 6 out of over 50(?) players got inside the castle gates after 10 hours of combat -- just to get skewered by the castle inhabitants.... Urgh!.. If you have NEVER played a 3-D game (no matter what system) -- you missed half the fun of gaming. It is the best marriage of the miniature combat with role playing... .... And I won!
