SoftQuad develops and markets a line of publishing software for the
UNIX market. SoftQuad Publishing Software is an enhanced version of
AT&T's DWB II, with support for modern laser printers.

Continuing growth has created an opportunity for the position of
TECHNICAL SUPPORT ASSISTANT. The position is available immediately.

The successful candidate has a background in UNIX programming, 
software production, and support.  Previous experience with 
nroff/troff is required.  Excellent language skills and telephone 
manners are a pre-requisite for the position.

The duties of the position include technical support, software production, 
some programming, and assisting in SoftQuad's training program.

Responsibilities:

Support
The successful candidate will be trained to take calls from current customers, 
and assist sales representatives in answering potential customer questions.
Provide local support to sales and administrative staff, both in the use 
of UNIX and in technical questions relating to SoftQuad Publishing Software.
Assist in developing and implementing a tracking system for support calls 
and bug reports.

Production
The successful candidate will learn SoftQuad production procedures, and
will fill orders as they are received from the sales department.  This
involves use of the IOU program, and complete tracking of all orders
received.  Weekly reports will detail weekly shipped, back-ordered, and
postponed orders.

Training
Expedite and organize for training programs. These duties involve
preparing the room, distribution of course materials, greeting
attendees, and general coordination activities.

Programming
The successful candidate will assist in developing and implementing an
Interactive Order Utility (online order processing) package.  These
utilities will interact with an on-line database, and be used to
maintain, update, and produce reports of all orders current and past.

Create and maintain scripts written for sed and awk, used by the
documentation group for specialized applications.  Produce and maintain
UNIX shell scripts as a part of general internal support function.
Program SQtroff macros for use by administrative, documentation, and
sales staff.
