Two new positions have opened up at UTCS.  A fulltime position,
and a shortterm position (duration: 6 months).

The UTCS Systems group is looking for a fulltime UNIX systems programmer
(Previous incumbent - Geoff Collyer).

The successful candidate will be responsible for systems support on 
several BSD UNIX based systems.  Required support includes kernel work,
software maintenance and tuning, network maintenance and trouble shooting
as well as development and implementation of new functionality at user- and
kernel-level.  The position requires willingness to provide support for
interaction with various operating systems and hardware.

The educational background requirement for the position is a university
degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering (or related topic)
or equivalent experience needed.  A Master's Degree is preferred.

In terms of experience, several years of BSD UNIX systems programming
experience as a root user is required.

In terms of skills, good programming style is necessary. The ability
to communicate concepts both verbally and in writing with computer users
and non-technical staff is also needed.

The short term job opening is available at Scarborough College.  It is a
6 month assignment (from Nov.  7 1986 - April 30 1987) as an
Applications Programmer.  The successful candidate must have a good
working knowledge of UNIX (4.2 BSD) and the Turing language.
