We require a system programmer to join a small development
group porting UNIX to the Geac system 9000. The quality,
completeness and initial support of the UNIX product will be
the responsibility of this group.
The candidate should be an experienced "C" programmer with
a solid understanding of the UNIX environment. Development
work will range from O/S level through application level.
As a member of the engineering team the programmer will
be required to become familiar with the Geac programming
environment. This will include an introduction to Geac's
proprietary operating system, the ZOPL programming language,
debugger and performance evaluation tools.
Opportunity exists to move throughout Geac's software
engineering groups. This includes development work in
operating systems, program development tools, operations
environment tools and a layered data communications subsystem.
Qualifications:
- minimum 2 years work experience, including one year
in a UNIX environment;
- an Engineering or Computer Science degree preferable.
