A rather high-profile information systems manager is needed by a firm in a very visible pilot project, due to major acquisitions by the corporation. The project is a beta-test of work done in cooperation with IBM Canada, and requires someone to "manage the existing managers". As you might guess, this has something to do with micros (although not necessarily Unix micros), and large-scale IBM MVS systems. The applicant needs superlative management skills, and not inconsiderable expertise in systems development and analysis, project and personel management, and needs strong personal technical skills in the area of applying "development methodologies" to real projects. Planning and estimatings skills are also prerequisites. To quote Vince, "only hotshots need apply". Location is in the Toronto area, salary to 55k. The advertiser is a staffing-consultant (ie, a headhunter), Mr Vince Massara, Saber Consultants Ltd., 45 Charles St. E, Suite 100, Toronto, Ontario. If anyone wants to give a junior a steer, he's promising top rates for the degree of experience he wants: Contract programmer/analyist, working in sql and (you should maybe pardon if I swear) Cobol on VM/CMS, 6-12 months experience rqd. DB2 (NOT dbII!) programmer, also 6-12 months experience rqd. -dave (He's the headhunter.
