Cognos Inc. has an opening for a Software Engineer to
work on our Data Management Services (DMS) project.
The project involves the design, development and
implementation of a portable relational interface
which supports access to dissimilar file systems in
a heterogeneous environment.
The candidate would have to work with two other
designers on the overall design of DMS and be
expected to work on his/her portions of the system
with minimal supervision from the team leader.
Qualifications:
- a good working knowledge of Relational, Network
and Hierarchical data models.
- experience in working with large complex systems.
- a good working knowledge of database or data
dictionary internals. Knowledge of concurrency
control or transaction management systems desir-
able but not essential.
- BSc in Computer Science (or equivalent degree or
experience).
- effective verbal and written communication skills.
- experience with Unix and one of C or Pascal is
desirable.
- experience with any of the following DBMSs or
DDs is also desirable: DB2, SQL/DS, Rdb/VMS,
CDD, DG/SQL, TurboImage or Image/3000.
