Position: Systems Manager, Mechanical Engineering Responsibilities: - Generic Departmental Unix Consultant to the Dept. - Systems Manager for Mech Eng (Suns and MIPS) - Postmaster, Account Manager, Assurance Manager (etc) - Primary Liaison on computing issues to the rest of the University and outside industry Skills required: (In order of importance) - A Positive Attitude - Strong interpersonnel skills - Self Discipline - Strong Unix background - An understanding of the Unix Computing Issues at the University of Toronto. Really this person is expected to act as an "enabler", in that he must independently develop strategies to increase the usability of the Mech Eng computing facility. I've been very happy here; I'm not looking forward to leaving this work environment. You will find that you are very well treated as long as you keep the interests of the users foremost in your mind.
