COMPUTER PROGRAMMER / DATA BASE MANAGER
 
To work in mainframe (VM/CMS) and micro (MS-DOS) environments
manipulating a 20 Mb relational database (RDBMS) using SQL/DS
(CMS) and ORACLE (MS-DOS).  VAX/VMS and UNIX systems are also
used for map plotting and text formatting.  The following
software packages are used:
      VM/CMS : SQL/DS, XEDIT, SAS, REXX, ISPF, KERMIT
      MS-DOS : ORACLE, KEDIT, WORD PERFECT, KERMIT, etc.
      VAX/VMS: GIMMS and others
      UNIX   : troff, nroff and others
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
      1) load data from flat files into the database
      2) using SQL*FORMS to design screen forms for querying,
         updating, inserting, deleting information
      3) using SQL*REPORT write programs to generate report from
         database
      4) general database administration and maintainance
      5) plotting maps through GIMMS on VAX
      6) possibly setting up a Local Area Network or XENIX system
 
QUALIFICATIONS: B. Sc. in Computer Science or college diploma
with equivalent experience.  Familiarity with database principles
and Structured Query Language (SQL).  MS-DOS experience required.
Experience with some of the following software helpful: ORACLE,
C, SQL, FORTRAN, SAS, WORD PERFECT, etc.
 
ATTRACTIONS: This is a full-time training program to provide
experience for a career in MIS/DP.  After gaining experience at
this project, starting salaries are highly favourable.
