Position: Systems Manager, Mechanical Engineering Responsibilities: - Generic Departmental Unix Consultant - Systems Manager for Mech Eng (Suns and MIPS) - Postmaster, Account Manager, Assurance Manager (etc) - Primary Liaison on computing issues to the rest of the University and outside industry Skills required: (In order of importance) - A Positive Attitude - Strong interpersonnel skills - Self Discipline - Strong Unix background - An understanding of the Unix Computing Issues (especially at the University of Toronto). Really this person is expected to act as an "enabler", in that he/she must independently develop strategies to increase the usability of the Mech Eng computing facility. This would include buying strategies and upgrade policies for existing systems. I've been very happy here; I'm not looking forward to leaving this work environment (education benefits, informal atmosphere, interesting toys, high morale, job security, etc.). You will find that you are very well treated as long as you keep the interests of the users foremost in your mind. When: Open from Jan 1st 1989.
