The Job
=======
Digital Media Networks has a unique opportunity in Toronto for a
UNIX/C programmer. We run a network of SUNs, PCs, and MACs, with
the bulk of software development done on the SUNs. Our newsroom
automation project is increasing in scope, and requires a top-
notch programmer to assist the Chief Software Engineer.
The duties will consist of various programming tasks, managed by
the Chief Software Engineer. Initially, the challenge is to au-
tomate the company-specific aspects of facility management, so
that no faility management is required, except on an exception-
reported basis. Then we require a joint effort on the further
automation of our newsroom.
The Talent
==========
As part of a two-person team producing all of the company's
software, your role will be very visible and very gratifying, as
well as being very challenging. To meet the challenge, you must
have:
* a minimum of a BSc in computer science (or equivalent);
* at least two years of UNIX/C programming experience,
preferably in a SUN environment;
* some familiarity with system administartive tasks in a SUN environment;
* good people skills, to teach non-technical users what they need
to know of UNIX to get their jobs done;
* a disciplined, independant approach to work, requiring little
hand-holding and taking a pro-active view of problem solving;
* an informal, flexible, easy-going, small-company attitude to work.
Salary will vary with the degree of above qualifications exhibited.
