experience in the area of MS-DOS and MS-Windows.]
SoftQuad Inc. is a young, growing software company with opportunities
for advancement and an exciting work environment. We are one of
the world's leading developers of software related to the creation
and presentation of structured information. Currently we have
positions available in our SoftQuad West office. Located in Surrey,
B.C., Canada, where living is still affordable, we are just 40
minutes from downtown Vancouver, the mountains and the Pacific Ocean.
SoftQuad West designs and implements software for the editing of
structured documents. Our applications run in windowing environments
on a variety of hardware and operating systems including UNIX,
MS-DOS, OS/2, Apple Macintosh and VMS.
SYSTEMS ANALYSTS (2)
The successful candidates will become part of our small team development
effort. They will actively participate in the specifications of the
over-all requirements, design and implementation of our applications
and be responsible for the design and implementation of individual
application modules.
The following qualities are essential to this position:
- good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with the
other team members;
- ability to take requirement specifications and to design and
implement solutions to them;
- a minimum of three years experience in designing and coding in
a high level language including at least one year of C experience;
- ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Expertise in the following areas is specifically required:
- system programming experience in MS-DOS;
- design and implementation of interactive applications for windowing
environments such as MS-Windows.
In addition, experience in one or more of the following areas is
highly desirable:
- object-oriented design and programming -- our development
language is C++;
- the use, design and implemention of interactive applications for the
editing and display of structured documents;
- design and implementation of efficient search algorithms including
pattern matching of regular expressions;
- design and implementation of small languages using lex/yacc;
- use of a text formatting and/or markup language such as troff, TEX,
Scribe, GML, SGML.
