We require an individual with good verbal communications skills to provide
direct end user support for a PS/2 based application.
The application is based on PS/2 computers (running PC-DOS) in multiple LANs
all communicating through 3270 sessions with CICS on our MVS mainframe.
Relational database technology (DB2) is being used.
Our immediate requirement is for you to provide application support to end
users. However, there are many opportunities for growth and advancement in
this position including programming and analysis activities. We expect that
you will:
- provide support for Client problems with the application as well
as the operating hardware and software
- write testing scenarios for regression, integration, system and
acceptance testing of application components
- execute testing scenarios to assure the quality of project
deliverables
- install tested new or updated programs and system components into
production libraries
- distribute software and data to multiple remote sites
Our primary skills requirements are:
- 1-2 years experience
- Good problem solving aptitude: Ability to analyze problem situations
and decide on a course of action or escalation.
- good writing skills: for support and user documentation
- some hardware aptitude: in the sense that you will not be intimidated

SUPPORT ANALYST 2; Requisition 397
We require an individual with good communications skills who can play a
Quality Assurance Role in a large application.
The application is based on PS/2 computers (running PC-DOS) in multiple LANs
all communicating through 3270 sessions with CICS on our MVS mainframe.
Relational database technology (DB2) is being used.
Your role will be to take over test plan maintenance and execution
responsibilities from contracted consultants. The test plan consists of
formal scenarios for the testing of functions within the developed
application. These scenarios are executed over the testing phase of the life
cycle across both the PS/2 and Mainframe platforms. You will be required to
create and maintain test data, build test scenarios for new functions or
enhancements, and schedule and execute the scenarios in partnership with
business representatives. As well, you will be responsible for administering
and controlling project source, headers, include files, batch files, JCL
procedures and jobs. This includes the promotion, compiling, and linking of
application components.
Our primary skills requirements are:
- Minimum 3-4 years experience
- good problem-solving skills: you will be required to do preliminary
problem determination as difficulties are encountered in the testing
process and route problem reports to the appropriate individual/group.
- Experience with formal testing of programs: unit, integration, system,
acceptance, regression, capacity/stress
- Full understanding of the program creation process for both MVS/XA and
PC-DOS executables

Your role will be to assist in the design and development of the host
portion of the application.

We require a creative, self-starting individual with excellent communications
skills to fill an architecture role with a development project currently
underway.
The application is based on PS/2 computers (running PC-DOS) in multiple LANs
all communicating through 3270 sessions with CICS on our MVS mainframe.
Relational database technology (DB2) is being used.
Your role will be to maintain an overall systems architecture for the
application (across both host and PC platforms) and ensure that future
deliverables adhere to the architecture. You will have full responsibility
for the design and planning of application releases. Design of both database
(DB2) and process will be within your job function. Programming background is
essential but we do not expect that any programming activities will be
required.
Our primary skills requirements are:
- Minimum 8 years experience
- Ability to communicate directly with End Users and gather and
interpret requirements; Work closely with these Users during all
phases of the development life cycle
- In-depth experience with online, transaction based applications
running on IBM's MVS/XA or MVS/ESA operating systems
- In-depth CICS coding and design experience including inter-CICS
communication through MRO, Distributed Transaction Processing
and Function Shipping
- In-depth DB2 and SQL coding, design and tuning experience
- Experience with PC-DOS applications and the use of 'bought'
screen management and file management packages (Vermont Views and
BTRIEVE in our case)
- Project Management experience; ability to integrate the efforts
of a small MVS and PC design team
- Conduct Code and Design Walkthroughs
