 I am looking for any written references (title/publisher/author/etc)
on the british bike company
  "Associated Motor Cycles Limited" (AMC would you believe?)
and more specifically their product
 "Matchless" motorcycles of 1958-1962
any information at all would be greatly appreciated.

I sent the following out on August 13, but with the recent and many
decvax troubles, i am not sure it made it, so here it goes again...

this company/product later became associated with Norton later in its life.
