[net.cycle] small displacement touring

ecn-pa:lebold (12/01/82)

My experience with small displacement touring machines is mostly
indirect, a close friend has a 1972 Honda CB350 (twin) which with
me and my Suzuki 750 water pumper we toured Florida (Miami-
Pensacola) one year, the Virginia's and around the Great Lakes
the next year. He has a backrest and a J.C. Whitney handlebar
fairing for goodies, and is 6' 5" tall!! He never had any
problem with the bike mechanically, wasn't the greatest in strong
crosswinds though. Even at 60 miles per gallon the 3 gallon tank
didn't last long, but running 5500-6000 rpm he wanted to get off
after a couple of hours!

With the newer bikes you shouldn't have any problems and probably
less vibration.
