The helmet law in OHIO is as follows: for riders who have had their liscense for longer than a year, helmets are optional. Otherwise, mandatory. My liscense, from last spring, says MC NOVICE UNTIL xx/xx/xx prominently on the top. I'm not sure how this applies to out of staters but I've never seen or heard of anyone being stopped *just* because he wasn't wearing a helmet. 'chard.
