In recent years, motorcycles seem to have replaced vans as the objects of "routine checks" by police. This may not, if fact, be true, but as a biker and frequent rider in a van you'd be hard pressed to convince me otherwise. Maybe I'm just an unsavory looking character (although how can anyone tell in a helmet and leather jacket?). It isn't my driving -- I'm so straight that I still drive at 55mph, even though it damn near gets me run over every time I get on the highway. At any rate, if I'm stopped, what rights do I have when it comes to a search? Do these rights vary from state to state? Let me add here that I don't have anything to hide -- I suspect that many searches are merely harrassment. If this subject has already been discussed here, I apologize. This group's been quiet for a while, and I'd like to stir the pot (no pun intended) a bit.
