I used to have problem with brakes that squealed on my TR3/A (car, not cycle). One mechanic suggested that it could be cured by bevelling the leading edge of the brake pad where it came in contact with the disk - i.e.: bevel --------+ | | v +-\ | | | | | | | | |v| brake pad --> | |v| | | | <--- Disk | | | | +-+ | Direction of Motion | v Give it a try!!! I don't know about cycle brake pads, but I think most auto brake pads are made of asbestos. If you are going to bevel them, do be careful about inhaling the dust or exposing others to it. Wear a mask, and clean it up!
