If you are treated rudely by a dealer then write to the motorcycle manufacturer and say so, they are interested in selling bikes to anyone regardless of their current stead. I have only been to a Harley dealer once and was treated well even though I obviously couldn't afford even a used Harley, that was however in Wichita, Kansas and people seem to be friendlier in the middle of this country than on the edges (why is that ?). Also I receive a catalogue every year from a local Harley dealer here in California even though I've never been near his place or ordered anything, perhaps he read my licence plate as I flashed past on the freeway. I have also had the good fortune to meet some pleasant, well not unpleasant anyway, Harley riders out here. We had a good chat about Harleys and Hondas and they were greatly amused when it was discovered that my wife's CX500 had blown a gasket and dumped most of it's oil on the pavement ! Still they had to get out the tool kit to fix an electrical problem before they could leave. I too am in the category of someone who would like a Harley as an alternative bike but it would have to be my number three - I've always dreamt of a Norton 850 commando cafe racer so that would be number two. Number one is a Honda 750F and likely to stay that way - I'm a lousy mechanic. Are there any Commando riders in net land ? Do you like it (silly question) ? What do they cost and are parts readily available ? Bob Palin {ucbvax, decvax}!tektronix!zehntel!varian!bob
