I hate rain grooves and their distant cousins, steel deck bridges, too! Fortunately I had a lot of practice. During my first year of riding I was going to school, and my route took me over this steel deck bridge everyday. I didn't feel very confident at first, but I found that if I - hold a steady speed, - avoid sudden moves, and - ride straight across, things were reasonable. Stability on such surfaces seems to depend a bit on the bike's steering geometry, too. My Honda 360 wasn't very happy going over that bridge. My Kawasaki 550 still feels a bit squirrelly
