Last Sunday was a beautiful day around here, so my roommate and myself decided to take out our cycles while looking for a new place to live. The agent of one place had already spoken to my roommate, and was interested in renting to us. I wanted to take a look at it for myself. So we cruise up and wait for the agent. Shortly another group comes by to look at the house as well. A little later the agent shows up. When she gets there her first comment is, "Who's motorcycles are these." My roomate and myself proudly claim ownership. So, she responds, "I'm sorry. The owner won't rent to bikers." My roomate's comment was, "But we wear brown leather, not black." I found this to be really funny, because we were "desirable tenants" until it was known that we own cycles. Suddenly we are undesirables. This is a very ignorant and prejudicial attitude. It didn't bother me to lose the place, because I figure that having a landlord with attitudes such as that is nothing but an invitation to problems. Have the people out there often run into similar biker's prejudice? -- Chip Rosenthal, Intel/Santa Clara {pur-ee|hplabs|ucbvax!amd70|ogcvax!omsvax}!intelca!t4test!{chip|news}
