[net.cycle] why multi-carbs?

grego@teklds.UUCP (05/30/84)

Using one carb per cylinder allows for very short, and straight, intake
tracks. This means that a high velocity is maintained and there is less time forfuel to condense out of the vapor. Another good argument for multi-carbs is
that all the intake tracks are of equal length thus equalizing response across
the cylinders. Furthermore, since they are seperate systems, a balanced charge
is present at all cylinders. All of this is negated by improper card syncron-
izing.
There have been several (many?) succesful designs using only one carb.
The single carb setup is usualy used in conjunction with a turbocharger because
it simplifies the turbo-to-carb plumbing.
