We then returned to our home in D.C. (remember, it was August). Two months later we moved to New England (central Massachusetts). The trees and wonderfully clean air were very seductive. The most interesting and beautiful part of our trip was as follows: Northeast from Utica, NY into the Adirondacks on NY Route 8 (not sure about this number). East to Lake Champlain. Cross the lake via ferry to Burlington, VT. East from Burlington to junction with VT Route 100. South on Route 100 to Brattleboro, VT. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED scenic, winding road thru the center of the state. (Be sure to eat at The Common Ground in Brattleboro.) The weather in mid June is hard to predict. It could range from 50 at night to 100 during the day. One thing is for sure - June is prime bug season! Ward Clark
