#N:trsvax:57700024:000:723 trsvax!kal Aug 7 12:57:00 1984 Almost a year ago we bought our 1983 1100 Kawasaki. We've put almost 12,000 miles on it. Kawasaki Motors sent us an offer to extend our warranty for an extra 12 months for $193.00 or 24 months for $238.00. The warranty seems to cover everything that the original warranty covered. Has anyone else ever taken such an extended warranty ? Is it worth it ? Also, we've put a header on the bike. The warranty doesn't cover the exhaust system anyway. But, will this void any other part of the warranty ? The extended warranty is transfer- able if we sell the bike, which we plan to do next fall. #R:trsvax:57700024:trsvax:57700025:000:824 trsvax!kal Aug 17 15:24:00 1984 Thanks to all of you who responded to my request for information about the Kawasaki extended warranty. Everyone that responded recommended not taking the warranty. Shortly after posting the request, we started having problems with the bike starting. We had the battery tested and the salesperson told us we needed a new one, so we bought a new one. That turned out not to be the the problem. However the part that is the problem is still covered under our original warranty. To me that is a pretty good indication that we may need the extended warranty. When something goes wrong before the warranty is up you can bet something else is going to go wrong later. This part for this fix was $50.00. It won't take many of these to add up to the cost of the extended warranty. Thanks again, Kathy Ladewig
