Okay, Honda '83 Nighthawk CB650SC. Bought new in July, registered, lisenced in NY. For those of you unfamiliar with the nighthawk, the specs: Weight (dry) 197 kg / 434 lbs Capacities Oil 3.5 US qt Fuel 3.4 US gal Reserve 0.7 US gal Load 355 lbs Engine bore & stroke 2.362 x 2.283 in comp. ratio 9.5 : 1 disp. 656 cc Power transmission (get this) prim. red. 1.704 final red. 1.125/3.091 1st 2.769 : 1 2nd 1.850 : 1 3rd 1.429 : 1 4th 1.154 : 1 5th 0.966 : 1 OD 0.821 : 1 specifics: Maintenance: Other than changing the oil and plugs, and tuning the carbs, virtually none. No valve adjustments, of course; they're hydraulic. Automatic cam chain tensioner, hydraulic clutch and brake, shaft, so no chain to adjust. 0-60 in under 4s, redlines at 10k. Gets about 45 mpg. Lots of guts. (eats 750's for lunch), Handling: the engine is skinny, due to a well-designed alternator configuration. This, along with the rest of the design of the lower part of the bike, means excellent lean angles and very good ground clearance. The center of gravity feels very low compared to other bikes with a four-up-front cylinder configuration. The seat is possibly a tad lower than similar bikes. Adjustable rear shocks and front fork, and antidive, all add to the overall handling potential. It's a great street bike and also a great highway cruiser, I did NYC to Quebec, and back, with no problems whatsoever. 5.1k miles, 4 months old. just had 5k miles maintenance. Oh yah, it's dark blue, as i didn't like the maroon color which is the other choice for 83' NHs. Really a fantastic looking bike. Reason for selling: Moving to California, and it seems (why the f*uck is this) that it is impractical to ship a bike over such a distance, it's also much too late to drive it (damn). The same bike in CA has 10% less power because of the silly (actually not so silly) california emission laws. (read as, "I love this bike and am open to suggestions on how to get it there under the $800+ freight charges.") Price: will consider any reasonable offers. Reference: if you want a second opinion on this bike, send some mail to seismo!rlgvax!toml, and I'm sure he'd be more than happy to oblidge. After all this, and you're and still interested, call. Day: (914) 945-6006, Night: (914) 693-0354. or just send some mail. -- USENET- .... Sean Byrne 4 years . /\ . CSRG, Philips Laboratories of anarchy . / \ . Briarcliff Manor, NY 10510 freedom . / \ .
