From the "Product Recalls" section of Consumer Reports: BMW motorcycles. If driven for long distances under hard use, some models (see below) may develop hairline cracks in cast wheel where spokes meet hub; continued use under those conditions may enlarge cracks and impair wheel's operation. MODELS: 24,166 BMW motorcycles made from September 1976 through August 1978. Models include R60/7 and R75/7, model year 1977; R80/7 (1978-80); R100S (1977-80); R100T (1979-80); R100RS (1977-82); R100RT (1978-82); R100CS and R100 (1981-82). WHAT TO DO: Have dealer Inspect wheel and replace if necessary. I'm not sure why the first part of the model listing only goes through 1978, while the second part lists models through 1982.
