I'm considering buying a Honda CX650 Turbo ('83) and I'm looking for comments
from anyone who has owned one or knows useful things about them.
What I'm looking for in a bike are:
1) Practicality: I want to bolt a backrest & carrier on and still have it
look reasonable. I want a fairing, preferably one with some storage space
( I realize I can't get much more than the Windjammer I have now, but the
Turbo's fairing is better than just a plexifairing for storage.)
2) Multipurpose: Mostly I just commute to&from work & school, so I don't
want a bike that's a real pain in the city (heavy, awkward, etc). Once
every week or so I get a chance to ride the open highways, so I want a
bike with lots of midrange power for fun & excitement. I'm not a canyon
racer , ie I don't go around peg scraping at 7500rpm at 100mph, but I
do want readily available power.
3) Good service reputation: Does the Turbo break down every 1500 miles?
Do I have to get a tuneup 4 times a season? Is it an indestructible bike?
I'm currently riding a 77 Honda CB750K with WindjammerII, backrest & carrier.
It is very comfortable, extremely reliable, economical etc. but it just
doesn't have the get up & go to be fun anymore. Bikes like GS750EF
FZ750 etc would be nice except I need more than just an all-out sport
bike. I have been considering VF750S Sabre.
Any info would be much appreciated.
