Thanks to everyone who responded to by question about the Honda Sabre. The general consensus was good. Some said the Sabre 700 is underpowered, others said it is more than enough power (especially for a first bike). Most who owned a Sabre were happy with it, and some even said would they buy another. The going price for an '84 Sabre 700 is $2900 (Honda's price, no discount). This is $500 less than the '85, and there are very few differences (new seat, different instrumentation, etc.). The '84 seems like the best bet. Last weekend I visited a Yamaha dealer who was trying to talk me out of the Sabre (I guess that's why I went there; hear their side of the story). He was trying to sell me on an '83 Vision. They are leftover and selling for $2200. The are water cooled, dual front disks, 550 V-twin with a full fairing (much like the Interceptor). He told me it will do a 1/4 mile in under 12 seconds (plenty fast for me if this is true). I have not been able to find any information on the bike though. Has anyone heard of it and/or know anything about it? Why did Yamaha stop manufacturing it; was it a failure? What is the difference in performance between a V4 and a V-twin? This bike would end up being over $1000 cheaper than the Sabre (after I put a fairing on it).
